For those who join MVCS late or are unable to complete prerequisites for core classes, the requirements below, together with mentor and Board approval, provide an alternative pathway for students to prepare for core LEMI classes.

 

Sword of Freedom: Read The Proper Role of Government by Ezra Taft Benson and write a paper on this topic: “Why is America different? How is the American government different from the nations now and in the past, and why have we last so long?”

 

Hero: Read Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Write at least a one page paper describing where your allegiance lies in making choices and why.

 

Quest 1: Read The Hiding Place. Write a paper on this topic: “What is a hero and who are two of my heroes and why.”

 

Quest 2: Read Martin Luther and write a paper. Turn in the paper. We will correct it and give it back. Be prepared for second draft. Read a biography about Abraham Lincoln, Patrick Henry, Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., or John Brown.
